HMG (Human Menopausal Gonadotropin) 75 IU
Overview
HMG (Human Menopausal Gonadotropin), also called menotropins, is a fertility medication containing both:
- FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone)
- LH activity (Luteinizing Hormone activity)
It is used medically to stimulate:
- Sperm production in men
- Ovulation in women
- Fertility recovery in people with low gonadotropin levels
How It Works
Unlike HCG, which mainly acts like LH, HMG provides both:
FSH support
LH support
This means it can stimulate:
- Sertoli cells (sperm production)
- Leydig cells (testosterone production support)
For fertility purposes, HMG is often combined with HCG because they work through different pathways.
How to Use It
75 IU is the most common vial size.
Medical protocols vary widely depending on fertility goals and hormone levels.
Examples seen in fertility practice include:
- 75 IU several times per week
- 75–150 IU every other day
- Higher doses under fertility specialist supervision
Because dosing is highly individualized and requires hormone monitoring, it should be directed by a physician.
